3:30 p.m.—Handling Stress—Employer and Employee
Stacey Alexandre,  Two Roads Therapeutics
Too often, competent and valuable employees leave stressful work environments because of their inability (or perceived inability) to manage stress.  Employers often find it challenging to assist an employee struggling in the workplace. Because employees experience stress and respond to challenges in very unique ways, the ‘one size fits all’ approach to managing employee stress is not effective.

4:00 p.m.—Paramedics Program Update
Noel Dunn, Saskatchewan Polytechnic
An update on the Paramedic Program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic will be provided.

Wednesday, May 8

9:45 a.m.—STARCARE
Chief Kevin Smith, Niagara EMS
STARCARE is a  simple approach to establish common values within the organization.  STARCARE isn’t about management or the corporation or the patient – it is about me, each of us, all of us and it is up to me to demonstrate these values in all I do to my co-workers and our customers and in turn how I want to be treated.

11:15 a.m.—Psychological Health & Safety in the Workplace
Jack Hardy, WorkSafe
Is Psychological Health and Safety on your organizations radar? Join us to clarify the issues and provide you and your organization with an overview of the issues, directions you can take and resources and training available you and your workers to make a difference.

1:00 p.m.—System Transformation
Chief Kevin Smith, Niagara EMS
Niagara EMS is in the process of a system transformation to change their service delivery model using Mobile Integrated Health as their foundation. Much of this is predicated on using evidence informed decision making to help shift how they are doing business.

3:00 p.m.—Finding Humour in the Crazy World of EMS: Welcome to the Dark Side
Steve Berry, Southwest Teller County EMS
Those working in the field of medicine often times have to respond to scenes involving horrific trauma and death, and yet we must keep working the   remainder of our shift.  How do we do this?  For many, humour offers a   momentary respite from our sense of loss and pain.  We know in spite of such tragedies, amusing incidents happen anyway, and that sometimes humour is the only weapon we have. Join Steve as he encourages us to enhance our sense of healthy humour while touching your heart with hope and understanding.
