Every year in Canada more than 1,000 contacts are made with energized high voltage power lines and equipment. In addition to these contacts, electrical substations are routinely broken into. A contact or break-in may require a response from police, fire or EMS workers.

The Emergency Medical Services Chiefs of Canada (EMSCC) has partnered with the Canadian Medic Alert Foundation to create a joint award for paramedics and foundation members involved in an event demonstrating a positive member outcome as a result of the desired behaviors related to MedicAlert usage.

This award will be presented at the upcoming EMSCC Conference in St. John's, Newfoundland June 8th through 10th, 2011.
